Because 1 in 4 women (and one in 7 men) in North America are subject to domestic violence in their lifetime, four women came together for one purpose – to fight for freedom through fashion.
And also to create a profitable business to fuel their desires to help other survivors achieve freedom over domestic violence.
The survivors came together to establish themselves as partners and crusaders as 9937242 CANADA INC. O/A temporarily* as the Freebird Project. *Long story we’ll explain in the coming days. Right now we are completely focused on driving traffic to our Grand Opening Free to Fly Online Conference and Fashion Show.
Here’s our kickoff video featuring the four founders – unfortunately the Steve we mentioned has stepped down from the VP position and we have reduced the founding partners to 4.
Carol Renee Waters
President and First to Fly
The founding Freebird who connects us all to the clothes and to the cause.
Carol is (to our minds) the modern hippie mama personified. She has loved and worn Lady Red Wing’s designs for well over 10 years and it’s their special relationship that launched the idea of The Freebird Project Shop, where we could open a virtual store to sell these incredible designs and then use the profits to fuel our dreams of helping more Carol’s (and Patrysha’s and Sacha’s and Linda’s…)
Carol’s day job is as mistress of Hippie Top, where she homeschools her brilliant (though sometimes way too teen) survivor daughter and hires out as a social media and article writer in a wide range of hippie topics.
Director of Operations
With over 19 years of experience in small business and home business marketing and publicity, Patrysha is a speaker, author and all ’round whirlwind of skills. She does much of our writing, some of our tech work like building web-pages, connecting up the interest lists, interviewing and booking almost all of our speakers, handling a portion of our email communications, and she spearheads most of our publicity efforts.
Patrysha’s day job is as a business advisor and business coach at a federally funded non profit that serves her local region. She also hosts the Triumphant Tales podcast through her side-gig at Patrysha.com. She calls The Freebird Project the side-gig to her side-gig and believes in entrepreneurship with all her heart.
Director of Finance/Director of Social Media
Social media is all in a days work for this newlywed from . As the head of Sassy Lasses, an event planning and VA service, she co-ordinates schedules and creates systems to serve her clients in many of the same ways that she does for The Freebird Project. In addition to being our treasurer, she has been helping to host and co-host many of the live events through the course of the Free to Fly Online Conference and Fashion Show.
Linda Al Marzook
As secretary of The Freebird Project, Linda provides vital support and encouragement to the team – as well as keeping us on track in board meetings and her attention to detail in maintaining the minutes of the corporation. Currently working full time and providing support to the Sassy Lasses with Sacha, this busy mom of a combined family of 6 children is also an advocated for understanding in both domestic violence and addictions issues.
